The north coast of California is dominated by rugged bluffs and the beaches tend to be smaller, pocket beaches that can sometimes be difficult to access. The beaches change throughout the year as winter storms scour sand that is later redeposited by summer’s more gentle surf. Where they are accessible, the beaches are gems for walking, watching the birds and collecting driftwood.
