I’d like to share links to other sites that I have found useful in my development as a photographer.

While I am thoroughly an American, three British landscape photographers have especially influenced my thinking about the art.  David Ward, Joe Cornish and Peter Watson are first-rate professionals.  The landscape of the UK is just as compelling though sometimes less grand in scale than areas in the American West.  Their work has taught me a lot about the centrality of light, clarity of composition, and, especially David Ward, the opportunities in the intimate landscape.  All three have published multiple books that are readily available in the U.S.. I’d encourage you to visit their sites and read one or more of their books.

My wife Susan Field has pursued creative endeavors for many years and continues to be a strong supporter and thoughtful critic of my work.  Please visit her website to enjoy her highly creative art.

There is no better periodical than LensWork.  Brooks Jensen, the editor, is both highly thoughtful about the creative process and I recommend his prolific podcasts, the paper version and the extended edition of LensWork.

Finally, I’ve been a devoted user of Nikon cameras and lenses since I purchased my first film-based SLR many years ago.  The Nikonians is a worldwide online community of Nikon users and a fountain of information about Nikon cameras, lenses and equipment.   The best professional reviews of Nikon gear come from Thom Hogan.  Norwegian Bjørn Rørslett is both a top-rate nature photographer and the most reliable source of critical reviews of Nikon lenses.
